Strong Offensive Performance Not Enough for Lady Royals

The Ecclesia Women’s Basketball team hosted Nebraska Christian College on Friday night. Ecclesia would have their best offensive game of the season and would be competitive early on.

The Lady Royals held the lead for the the majority of the first quarter playing together with balanced scoring and strong defense. Towards the end of the quarter Nebraska Christian got hot and hit a few shots to take the lead 22-17. In the second quarter Ecclesia began to struggle offensively as NCC stayed hot. Going into halftime the visitors led 48-32.

The third quarter featured a tight battle as both teams scored 19 in the period. In the final ten minutes Nebraska Christian would pull away and win the game 96-71. The 71 points would be a new season high for the Lady Royals, as they shot 45% from the field and 41% from beyond the arc.

Freshman Guard Tayler Kirk (Flippin, AR/Flippin High School) led the team with 16 points. Tierra Holliman (Texarkana, AR/North Webster High School), Saphire Thompson (Fayettville, AR/Greenland High School), and Haley Gresham (Crowley, TX/Southwestern Assemblies of God University) would all reach double figures as well, scoring 15, 12, and 13 respectively.
