Baseball Splits Series in NM

Ecclesia College Baseball traveled to Hobbs, NM over the weekend to battle on the diamond in a four game series with University of Southwest.

Game 1

Cooper Gordon got the start and went the distance in a 3-4 loss. It was a highly competitive game that would foreshadow how the rest of the weekend would go. Highlights of the game was Cole Howard and Tyler Roberts each with a double and a run, Cameron Berry had two hits, and Austin Butler with a hit, RBI, and a run.

Game 2

Coleson Coffey started game 2 and pitched six innings before being relieved by Elijah Saldana and Landyn McLeod. The Royals would control this game from the first inning on their way to an 11-5 win. The premier preformance of this game was Zach Espinosa with his first ever 3HR game. Those three home-runs move Espinosa to 3rd in the nation in HRs with six overall. He also had four RBIs in the contest. Additionally, Dylan Burleson and Austyn Hester added two RBIs, and Luke Benfield added two hits and two runs.

Game 3

Matthew Threatt began the game for the Royals on the mound in a 3-4 loss. He would be relieved by Elijah Saldana who would pitch 2-2/3 innings with zero ERs. Luke Benfield would have another 2 hit game and 1 run, and Cameron Berry and Drake Peterson contributed a run a peice.

Game 4

The final game of the series was started by Jesse Alexander, but would also see Dylan Burleson earn his first career win on the mound, and Jalen Reece would get the save. The final was 8-6 in favor of the Royals on an Espinosa game winning double.

Next Up

The Royals take to the field again on March 5th as they host Randall University. First pitch will be at 2pm at Tyson Sports Complex in Springdale, AR. Be there!
