Baseball Sweeps Series

Baseball defended the home field this week against Arlington Baptist University in a four-game series.

Game one featured the worst hitting of the series for the Royals, but it did not matter as Cooper Gordon pitched a complete game allowing only one earned run and having seven strike-outs. The Royals won 7-1.

The second game of the first day was quick. The result was also quickly predictable as the Royals put up 10 runs in the opening inning - they were not hitting poorly anymore. The decision was able to be made after only five innings with the Royals leading 21-0. Cole Howard and Clayton Phillips each had a bomb in the midst of a .567 team batting average for the game. Jacob Cason got the win with Andrew Damin, and Ryan Stovall in relief.

The next day saw much of the same baseball from both teams. Coleson Coffey pitched a complete seven innings in 82 pitches for a 6-1 win.

Matthew Threatt and Jesse Alexander combined for an 86 pitch shutout to end the series. The Royals also stole nine bases on their way to the 8-0 finish.
