Women's Basketball got on the court twice this week for games against Ozark Christian College and Bacone College.
Ozark Christian College Recap:
The first game of the week was Tuesday, January 19th at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO. The game started out very rough for the Royals, finding themselves with an 8-17 defecit after the first quarter of play. Fortunately the scoring picked up and Ecclesia managed to win the second quarter by a pair to enter halftime trailing 24-33. The story of the first half and of the game was the interior presence of Ozark Christian. They managed to out rebound the Royals 54-30. However, the Royals countered this with superior ball control by only turning the ball over seven times on the entire evening.
The second half started and Ecclesia's offense really picked up steam. They were spear-headed by Gabby Adams (pictured) who would end the game with 29 points and 6 made threes. The Royals would win the second half 47-29 that pushed them to a 71-62 victory on the road.
Gabby Adams: 29 points, 6-3PM
Alysia Pickett: 14 points, 4 assists
Bacone College Recap:
The second game of the week was a home contest against NAIA's Bacone College of Muskogee, OK. The game started out hot for the hosting Royals as they jumped to an early 24-18 point lead in the first quarter. This lead would continue to grow to a 13 point lead entering halftime behind the offensive output of another guard for the Royals, Alysia Pickett, who went 5-10 from deep on the night.
The back half of the game was a much different story than the first half. Bacone slowly chipped away at the Royal lead until taking their first lead of the game with 2:38 left. The Royals were unable to stop the momentum and would lose the hard fought game 77-76.
Alysia Pickett: 27 points, 5-10 3P
